With only three race weekends left in the 2022 season, the race to the championship title is closing in. After having a tough couple of qualifying sessions at Road America, Christian Weir is looking to get back on the podium path this weekend at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Set to take on the 2.258-mile, 13-turn road course, Weir is looking forward to competing at the Lexington, Ohio facility, a place where he has had success in the past.
“I am anxious to get the weekend going,” explained the Naperville, Illinois resident. “Mid-Ohio is a track that I love, and I know to do well. I will need to qualify well, an issue that I had at our most recent event at Road America.”
Despite his qualifying results last event, Weir was able to push his way forward a total of fifteen positions through the field in rounds nine and ten of the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship. Now, with a much anticipated weekend, Weir is hoping to have the speed they need early on to fight for a podium result.
Known for his ability to maneuver through the field, Weir currently sits in ninth in the championship standings going into this weekend and is the type of driver who can rack up those last minute points and close out the season on a high.
Weir continued, “Our chances are pretty good going into Mid-Ohio. The car is fast, and we have three chances to make something happen, so we’re banking on a good weekend. Mid-Ohio is a triple header race weekend so there are a lot of points at stake, and I have my goals set high.”
Christian Weir will be on track this Thursday, June 30th through Saturday, July 3rd for a busy weekend of in Lexington, Ohio. Be sure to follow all his social media pages for news, information, photos and results from the event weekend.
