Traveling just a few short hours from his home in Naperville, Illinois to the famed Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, Christian Weir will be back on track this weekend for the next rounds in the Porsche Sprint Challenge North America program with MDK Motorsports. Fresh off a solid event weekend in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship on the barrier lined circuit in Toronto, Weir will now battle the natural terrain permanent road course with picturesque views in the Dairy State.
Competing in the Porsche Cayman division with MDK Motorsports, Weir has earned one victory and three podiums on the season in only three event weekends. A fan of Road America and familiar with the speed and characteristics of the 4.014-mile, 14-corner facility, Weir is hoping that track knowledge will aid in his efforts to climb back onto the podium this weekend.
“I am ready. I have been ready since the last race to get back in the seat of a Porsche,” explained Weir. “I am competing in multiple different series this year and that is expanding my knowledge base and building my experience. I have learned so much this year, and I hope that I can put it all together this weekend and provide my team with another win.”
With a track walk taking place on Thursday afternoon, Weir will get his first taste of a Porsche at Road America on Friday in two official practice sessions. Saturday morning will yield the way to qualifying before the first wheel-to-wheel action takes place that afternoon with race two on Sunday. Be sure to stay tuned to the Christian Weir social media pages for news, information, photos, and results from the event weekend.
